Raymond Francis Sarmiento is the Director of the National Telehealth Center, National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines Manila and was previously the Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) of the Center. As CRIO, he led the design, development, and implementation of clinical and translational science strategies using applied clinical informatics methods to optimize health information systems and translate informatics research applications to become part of integrated clinical workflows found in rural health units, regional hospitals, and tertiary specialty hospitals. In addition, Dr. Sarmiento also serves as the Chief Data Protection Officer of the University of the Philippines Manila. He finished his Public Health Informatics Fellowship (2014-2016) in the Division of Surveillance, Hazard Evaluations, and Field Studies at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Prior to joining CDC, he completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical informatics at the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications (LHNCBC), NLM, National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.
