Biography

James W. Weis has founded and led multiple initiatives in biotechnology and healthcare—including the MIT Biotechnology Group, which he grew to over 2,000 members in under two years, the MIT Alumni Life Sciences Angel Group, which invests in MIT healthcare startups, and Adena Partners, a cross-border research, development, and venture firm that develops, funds, and commercializes next-generation technologies. James has published original research and spoken internationally on the fields of synthetic biology, machine learning, and technology transfer. Previously, James worked in investment banking for Citigroup in New York City. James graduated with highest honors from Brown University, holds graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and Computational & Systems Biology from MIT, and pursued PhD research as a NDSEG Fellow in the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
